Summary of the course:
The course is designed to provide basic as well as advanced knowledge and skills in the management of pediatric laryngotracheobronchial conditions. Team management is emphasized. Allied specialists including pediatricians, pulmonologists, intensivists, anesthesiologists, radiologists particularly endoscopists will benefit from lectures and demonstrations by the expert faculty.
The highlight of the course will be the bronchoscopy sessions using flexible bronchoscopes on bronchotrainers, as well as virtual simulators AND rigid bronchoscopes on live rabbits, simulating foreign body extraction via optical forceps under video monitoring and other bronchoscopic procedures. Open airway surgery such as laryngotracheal reconstruction (anterior and posterior cartilage graft), partial cricotracheal resection and reanastomosis, slide tracheoplasty will also be done.
A Tracheostomy Course precedes the Endoscopy Course. Indications, techniques of surgery and postoperative care will be discussed.
